Johnson Named Director of Elementary Education

May 20, 2024 – Kerrville ISD has named Julie Johnson as the new Director of Elementary Education after the Board of Trustees approved the hiring during the May meeting this evening. Johnson is currently the Principal of Nimitz Elementary and has been with KISD for 8 years.

“I have been blessed to be a part of the Nimitz Elementary family and KISD team the last 8 years,” Johnson said. “Kerrville ISD is an amazing district and always moving forward to help our students succeed. I am looking forward to serving our elementary schools and community in this new capacity.”

With her extensive background in teaching and instructional leadership, along with the positive influence she’s had at Nimitz Elementary, she’s the perfect fit for this leadership position. Her dedication to students and educators will now extend across all elementary schools, ensuring progress for every student in every classroom.  Additionally, retention holds great significance for KISD. When we have skilled leaders within our district, it’s only natural to broaden their scope of leadership to better serve our exceptional district.”

Johnson has a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Prior to KISD, Johnson was a teacher, assistant principal and Director in Flour Bluff ISD for 14 years.
