Tivy Singers Claim Eight Region Spots

Kerrville, TX (Nov. 5, 2020) – Submitting their auditions digitally this year didn’t shake Tivy High School choir members, with eight musicians earning All-Region honors and five advancing on to the next round of auditions for All-State recognition.

The following students earned All-Region honors: Phoenix Miller and Lilyanna Moran, Soprano 1; Sydney Robinson and Rowan Kenney, Soprano 2; Diamond Chico, Alto 2; Joseph Huff, Tenor 1; Hunter de Saegher, Tenor 2; and Keaton Mitchell, Bass 1.

Phoenix Miller, Sydney Robinson, Joseph Huff, Hunter de Saegher and Keaton Mitchell placed in the top 10 on their voice part and will advance to the Pre-Area round of the Texas Music Educators Association All-State audition process.

“This was definitely a unique experience this year,” said Tivy Director of Choral Music Seth Lafler. “I’m proud of them for putting in all the work to prepare for their audition with no guarantee of the reward of a concert this year.”

In normal times, these students would get to participate in a region clinic and concert, but TMEA has cancelled all clinics and concerts so far this year due to COVID-19 mitigations. Singers had a window of time on a set date to record and submit their audition.

Other Tivy singers who auditioned include Clara Sumner, Kaitlyn Vecchio, Valerie Frenzel, Alexandria Finch and Elisa Keese.
