Joseph Davis named new Tivy Boys Basketball Coach

Kerrville, TX (June 23, 2020) – Kerrville Independent School District has named Joseph Davis as the new head boys basketball coach at Tivy High School earlier this month.

“Coach Davis is a very well respected coach and individual,” said Tivy Athletic Director and Head Football Coach David Jones. “The kids love him and he is a great mentor to young men. We are very excited about this chapter in Tivy Basketball.”

Long time Tivy Coach Brian Young announced his retirement last month.

Davis has served as an assistant coach under Young for 11 years, while teaching and coaching at Hal Peterson Middle School.

“It is such a blessing and an honor to be named the head boys' basketball coach in such a wonderful community,” Davis said. “My family and I are excited about this new adventure.  Basketball, for me, is a great way to mentor students and help shape them into the best version of themselves as possible.  I am looking forward to continuing to instill the standard of excellence. Tivy Fight Never Dies!”

Davis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Schreiner University. He is married to Liberty Davis, a teacher and coach at Hal Peterson Middle School and they have three children.
