Greg Peschel joined the Kerrville ISD board in 2021. He is a 6th generation native of Kerrville and considers it a privilege to serve in the school district and community he grew up in. Greg is a proud Tivy High School graduate who went on to get a degree in Public Relations from Howard Payne University and a Masters in Christian Education from Dallas Baptist University. A lot has changed since Greg first attended Doyle Kindergarten but he is very happy that he found his way back home.
As CEO of the Kerr County YMCA, Greg has made a career out of providing childcare and youth sports programming for the children in Kerrville and the surrounding communities. Approximately 1500 kids a year take part in one of the YMCA programs. This has allowed Greg to have insight into the needs of the families in our area.
Serving the community is one of Greg’s passions. He has served on the boards for the Kerrville Public School Foundation, Kerrville Parks & Recreation, Kerrville Little League, and the Kerrville 2050 subcommittee for Parks and Open Spaces. Prior to serving on the school board, Greg served our school district on the KISD Student Health Advisory Committee as well as the KISD Faculty Community Advisory Committee. In his spare time, he coaches his kids’ sports teams, is active in the Kerrville Rotary Club, and leads a Bible Study at Trinity Baptist Church.
Greg’s wife, Merydwen, is a 2nd grade teacher for KISD and together they have three children. His oldest, Ethan, is a Tivy graduate who is now enrolled at Texas A&M University. Evan is currently a student at Tivy High School and Emilee is enjoying life at Tally Elementary. In addition to being known as Ethan, Evan and Emilee’s dad, Greg is known as Mrs. Peschel’s son, as his mom taught for over 30 years in KISD.
