KERRVILLE COMMUNITY APPROVES $88.9 MILLION BOND

The Kerrville ISD community approved a bond referendum for $88.9 million on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, allowing the school district to implement much needed safety and accessibility updates and address aging infrastructure across the district. A new HPMS and new KISD Ag Facility are also important components of the 2018 Bond. This is the first comprehensive bond package voters have approved in almost 19 years in Kerrville.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am for the incredible engagement and support of this community. The hundreds of hours that community and staff members have given to researching, planning and communicating the district’s facilities’ needs speaks to the commitment to ‘Educational Excellence in the Hill Country’ here in Kerrville. We are blessed to have the opportunity to make these much needed improvements,” KISD Superintendent Dr. Mark Foust said.

The district will now prepare to sell Bonds as early as January 2019 and begin planning and executing work on a myriad of projects. The district would like to begin safety renovations with the security vestibules at most campuses as early as spring 2019 to be completed by fall 2019. Development of the design for the new HPMS will take almost a year with a projected groundbreaking in the Fall of 2019 and opening the new school in August 2021. The goal of the district is to have all projects completed by the end of 2021.

“It is vital that we honor the commitments that KISD has made to the community and the implementation of the Bond process will proceed with transparency and continuous communication,” Dr. Foust said.

A website will be set up soon where citizens can track the progress of the projects that the Long Range Facilities Planning and the Community Facilities Advisory Committees identified as priorities.

“Thank you, Kerrville, for supporting the children, faculty and staff of our great school district,” Dr. Foust said.
