Superintendent
Dr. Brent Ringo was named Superintendent of Schools for Kerrville Independent School District (KISD) in April 2023. As of 2026, he is entering his fourth year in the role. Under his leadership, the district has prioritized stronger academic and behavioral supports for students, district-wide implementation of Professional Learning Communities, adoption of the Capturing Kids’ Hearts framework, enhanced College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) systems, teacher retention strategies, and development of leadership pipelines.
Prior to joining KISD, Dr. Ringo served as the Deputy Superintendent/Chief Financial Officer for the Garland Independent School District, where he oversaw key operational areas and contributed to significant district achievements, including elevated CCMR performance, recognition as a top-performing district and passing a $1.3 billion bond program. Throughout his dedicated career to public education he has held many professional roles, including classroom teacher, coach, Algebra I team leader, assistant principal, associate principal, high school principal, director, executive director, assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent, and superintendent. His leadership emphasizes building high-performing teams committed to student success through innovative programming, family and community engagement, and robust professional development for educators and staff.
Dr. Ringo actively contributes to the community, serving on the boards of the Texas Association of School Business Officials, Upper Guadalupe River Center, Kerrville Chamber of Commerce, Kerr Economic Development Corporation, and Hill Country Crisis Council. He is also a member of the Kerrville Rotary Club. In 2025, he was selected as one of 17 superintendents statewide to participate in the prestigious Holdsworth Superintendent Leadership Program and awarded the “Exceptional Service Award” from the Rotary Club of Kerrville.
Dr. Ringo holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration with a minor in Statistics from Texas A&M University-Commerce, where his dissertation examined equity in school funding across Texas public school districts. He earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas State University-San Marcos and completed undergraduate studies at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the University of Texas at Austin.
He and his wife, Kristin, have three children: Brody (12), Kyle (10), and Kaylee (5), all of whom attend KISD schools.
