Tivy Counseling Department

  • Tivy High School provides a comprehensive developmental guidance program based on The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, Fifth Edition, (Texas Model). The Model was designed in order to establish, implement, manage, and evaluate the comprehensive school counseling program designed to benefit all their students. This program provides individual assistance in a proactive manner which emphasizes the response to students' expected developmental needs at a time when those needs can be most effectively met.

The Tivy Guidance and Counseling Department consists of four academic guidance counselors who work with students according to their last names. There is also a registrar, counseling department secretary, and college & career advisor to assist parents, students, and staff.

    Registrar: Charity Weldon

    Charity Weldon

I am Charity Weldon, the Registrar at Tivy High School. I started my work at Tivy in 2019 in the Counseling Office. As the current Registrar, I handle the record keeping of ALL Tivy students (former and current).  It is really neat to be able to put hands on over 100 years of history all at the same school! My favorite part of the job is that it doesn’t ever look the same day to day; and of course the interaction with our amazing students.  I am an alumni of Tivy…class of 1995!! I grew up in Kerrville (moved away for a little while), but love that I got to come home to my high school and make a positive difference in our community. TFND!! My greatest achievement: I am the proud mom of 3 amazing young men: Hunter, my oldest, is a United States Marine. Riley is my middle son who graduated from Tivy in 2021.  And my youngest, Ethan, will be joining me on campus this year. My faith and family are at the center of why I can smile with joy each day.

College and Career Advisor: Katea Riederer

    Katea Riederer

I started my journey at Tivy in February 2021 as the Career & College Advisor.  I love getting to know students and the Tivy/Kerrville community as I help seniors pursue their post-high school plans- whether they’re headed to college, a tech/trade school, to the military, or entering the workforce.  Previously, I have worked as a HR Regional Manager for a national drugstore chain, as well as a Worship Director.  I hold a BFA in Theatre from Viterbo University.  My family & I relocated from Milwaukee, WI, to Kerrville in November 2020, and I became a part of the Tivy family shortly thereafter.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, singing, cooking, and spending time with my husband & 4 young kids, exploring Texas.
