Degrees and Certifications:
Her second-grade teacher knew she was meant to teach and taught her to believe in herself, even when she didn’t realize she had so much to offer the world. Her chemistry teacher taught her that she didn’t have to be perfect but must try her best at every opportunity. Outward Bound outdoor education programs taught her that she was much stronger than she thought possible and when working as a team, great things could be achieved. These profound experiences reinforced her belief that she belonged in the classroom.
With 17 years teaching experience and referred to by her 4th grade science students as “Our own Ms. Frizzle – only better!”, Elizabeth Wrase is 100% unabashedly herself, approaching each lesson with zest while fostering creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning. Stepping away from the “safety” of textbooks, she plans authentic, student-centered, scientific inquiry-based activities that push students to try new things, take ownership of their learning, and dream big.
Never one to view teaching as “easy”, Mrs. Wrase recognizes the urgency of maintaining knowledge of current academic standards, new teaching methods, and STEM related learning opportunities, frequently engaging in meaningful professional development, including NASA LiftOff Summer Institute and working towards a National Certificate for STEM Teaching. She also passionately oversees Kerrville ISD’s Robotics Program and the award-winning Mustang Robotics team.
Above all she values her relationships with students, choosing to be a teacher who challenges, inspires, motivates, and cares for them; the sort of teacher she wants for her own four children.
