Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Karen Cook

Hello students and families!  I am fortunate to be starting my tenth year as the counselor for Hill Country High School students.  After all my adventures in travel and various careers, I never thought I would be in one place this long; but my commitment and satisfaction at HCHS has grown over time, and I am happy to be able to help shape the climate and program here. I am a native of Florida, but got to Texas as soon as I could to attend college and later receive my Masters in Education at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.  I am still close to my Florida family, but I live independently with my dog, Viva.  I enjoy the Hill Country outdoors, less-than-awesome gardening, cooking, running, working out, and local community organizations.  The students at HCHS keep me engaged, curious, and dedicated. I am continually surprised at their insight and personal strength.  I come to school every day thinking, "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
