Mr. Bobby Woods

The THS Aviation (CTE) course seeks to inspire high school students toward aviation-related careers after high school. This program uses the accredited 4-year AOPA Aviation STEM curriculum.

Tremendous job opportunities exist in aviation. Virtually all aviation careers need motivated and hard-working people to meet current aviation employment demands. This includes the need for aircraft pilots, drone pilots, aircraft mechanics, aircraft fuels, Air Traffic Control, airport and airfield management, safety, and hundreds of other exciting and well-paying careers. Our goal is to expose our diverse group of students to aviation who might otherwise never realize the excellent careers that are available in the aviation sector. These jobs as aircraft pilots, or drone-related field mechanics and the many other aviation support jobs are completely within reach!

The THS Aviation course is taught by Colonel Bobby Woods, USAF (retired). Col. Woods served 25 years of active-duty in the USAF and was an Instructor Navigator and Flight Evaluator in the C-141B and the T-43A. He also served as an Instructor Combat Systems Officer (CSO) flying T-1A aircraft. After retiring in August 2017, Colonel Woods began teaching at Tivy High School in November 2017. He lives in Kerrville, TX with his family. He and his bride Kelly have three children. Col Woods is passionate about youth education and very intentional about transferring timeless leadership principles to the next generation.
