Kate McKee

My name is Kate McKee and I teach 7th grade ELAR. This is my sixth year working at Hal Peterson Middle School. I am originally from Philadelphia, PA and moved to Texas to be closer to family.

I received my B.A. in Secondary Education, Special Education, English, and Middle Level Math from Kutztown University in May 2007.  I then went on to earn my Masters of Education from Cabrini College in Pennsylvania.

This is my 16th year in education. My first 7 years were spent teaching in the inner city. I loved my time as a Special Education teacher with the  Reading School District in Pennsylvania; my students and coworkers taught me more than I knew possible.  I then packed up my family and moved to Texas in order to be closer to my mother.  I spent a wonderful 3 years teaching along the devoted staff of McDowell Middle School in Hondo where I learned many lessons about Texas culture and education.  After purchasing land in Kerrville on which to build our very own house, my family and I landed ourselves in this wonderful community.

I look forward to continuing my work with the kids and parents of Kerrville ISD!
