Hello friends and families.
I am Coach Lovelady and I am beginning my 20th year of teaching P.E. this year. This will be my 12th year at Nimitz Elementary. I became a teacher because of my personal love of physical fitness, a family history of Cardiovascular Disease and obesity and just my overall love to play. I came to Schreiner University to do just that on the softball field. I fell in love with Kerrville and it has been my home since I left my childhood one of New Braunfels. Of course, I had some influential teachers in my life that kept my on the straight path needed to be succesful. I hope to be that same, positive role model for the students that come into my gym. P.E. was always my favorite class and I hope it is on the top of your list too.
My first years teaching, I had the pleasure of working beside a veteran P.E. teacher with a passion of spreading important knowledge. She would tell the kids, " I teach the most important things you will learn in the whole school!" The students would roll their eyes as I am sure you might be doing as well. Then she would expand and say, "I'm right! Look, it doesn't matter what you decide to be in life. You can be a doctor, lawyer, mommy, President, teacher, scientist, millionaire, etc, but if you don't have your health, you have nothing." My goal is to expose your child to a variety of different ways to exercise, as well as why it is so important so that they may find something they love and will continue to do for the rest of their lives as they are accomplishing the big goals they set for themselves.
I look forward to seeing you soon. Let's work together to have a great year. Please feel free to contact me with anything that might come up. Email is best because my day is packed full of kids. You can reach me at tara.lovelady@kerrvilleisd. My phone extension is 2254. If you would like a conference, my conference period is from 11:55-12:30 each day.
