I was born in Quito, Ecuador. I have been living in the USA since 2002. After finishing my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in Honduras, I moved to Indiana to pursue my Masters degree. I obtained a Master of Science in Forestry Biotechnology from Purdue University. Worked for VirginiaTech for a couple of years, then moved to Kerrville, TX with my husband.
This is my 13th year as a Spanish teacher. I am passionate about teaching my language and about my culture. I value teaching my students the importance of becoming citizens of the world and lifelong learners. I want my students to take risks, set their own goals on their journey to acquire a new language, and work hard to achieve their goals. I love teaching Spanish 2 and then seeing familiar faces 2 years later in Spanish 4 AP. I am always impressed with how much their Spanish proficiency can improve in only 4 years!
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) also know as Spanish Honor Society.
I am the Tivy sponsor for the Spanish Honor Society, Río Guadalupe Chapter. This is only the 3rd year we have had a SHH at Tivy High School. The SHH is an honor society for high school students sponsored by AATSP. The purpose is to recognize high achievement of students in the Spanish language and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic Studies.
To be part of SHH you must be in Spanish 3 or Spanish 4. You must have a cumulative Spanish average of 90 or higher in all Spanish classes. Members of the organization have an academic and a community service commitment.
