Procedural Safeguards

Special education law defines state complaint procedures and due processes to safeguard free appropriate public education for children with disabilities in order to resolve problems and/or disagreements. This explanation is readily available on each campus and a signed parental receipt for this document is contained in the state audit folder of every special education student. A complete copy of the Individuals with Disabilities Act 2004 (IDEA) and the State Regulations are available to review at each campus. If you desire a copy of these documents, please ask your campus.

Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), parents and their child have legal protections during the evaluation and individualized education program (IEP) process. These protections are called Procedural Safeguards.  Sped Tex makes this resource available in over 30 different languages.
