Mrs. Deborah (Debbie) Marusak

Hello. My name says Deborah Marusak, but I usually go by Debbie. I am married and the mother of two handsome, bright young men. This is my 22nd year of teaching. Prior to teaching I worked as a Corporate Training Specialist. I am originally from Arlington, Texas. I attended the University of Texas at Arlington for both my under-graduate and graduate studies. I majored in English and minored in French. I taught ESOL my first two years in Castleberry, Texas, headed the spirit club, and coached UIL Poetry. I then moved to Lamar High in Arlington. I taught 9th and 10th grade ESOL, sheltered, regular, and AP English, and 9th-12th summer school. I was ESOL Department Chair, district trainer for Bilingual/ESOL, took part in various after-school grant programs and judged Academic Decathlon Interview Skills every year. My husband and I have always vacationed and visited the Hill Country, so when the boys were grown and it was time, we decided to move to this area. I taught for one year at Llano High, and have happily been here in Kerrville at Hill Country High for six years.  I love this school.  My primary teaching duties are English, speech, French (Twice, and it was great!) and creative writing, however, we all assist with whatever each student needs. I tend to recommend folks to the science professional for physics! Kerrville is beautiful and we love it here. I frequently entertain my grandpuppies here, and eagerly await the arrival, someday, of less furry grandbabies!
