Tivy High School Ag Department

The Texas FFA Organization envisions a future in which all agricultural education students will discover their passion in life and build on that insight to chart the course for their education, career and personal future.

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Agricultural Education prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of
informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems.

TIVY STUDENT PLACES PIG AT STATE FAIR

Kaylee_Lackey_Dallas_2011.JPGTivy FFA member Kaylee Lackey exhibited her crossbred pig at the State Fair of Texas.   Her pig placed and made the sale. Winning exhibitors are eligible to sell their project through a live auction where sponsors pay premium prices to these premium kids.FFA sponsor and THS Agriculture teacher Joshua Limmer says students spend many months to prepare for livestock exhibitions.  “The last several months, these youth have invested their time, compassion and energy with their animals in hopes of walking away with the Grand Champion Prize. The livestock projects are simply the vehicle used to teach our kids important lessons in life like responsibility, leadership, communication, hard work and dedication.”

For more information, contact Joshua Limmer at 257-2212, ext. 281/289.
