Thank you for your interest in substituting for KISD. The job of a substitute can be challenging but also very rewarding. Our students, faculty and administration all appreciate substitute teachers and support their effors in all of our classrooms across the district. With this webpage, we hope to provide helpful resources and information that will support and assist substitute teachers in KISD when preparing to carry out their duties and responsibilities.
What are the qualifications to become a substitute teacher with Kerrville ISD?
If you are interested in becoming a classroom substitute, you must be over the age of 21 and have a minimum of 30 college hours. For a full list of qualifications for substitute teachers, click here.
How to apply as a substitute teacher?
UPDATE: The Substitute Application for the 2010-2011 school year is available now. To submit an application, you may enter your information in the Application using Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download) and then print the application when you have everything entered. Also please print the I-9 Federal Form and bring both the application and the I-9 Form to the September 28 meeting to be considered a Kerrville ISD substitute. Bring your completed packet to the a scheduled meeting on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2010 AT 9:00 AM. The meeting will be located in the Kerrville ISD Training Room at 1009 Barnett Street (last brick building behind the Administration Building) to start the process to become a Substitute in Kerrville ISD.
Returning/Current Substitute Information
Reasonable Assurance Letters for the 2009-2010 school year, have been sent out. If you were not actively working as a substitute, you were not sent a reasonable assurance letter. If you did not return your letter, you will not be placed on the Substitute List for 2010-2011. If you choose to be added, you must contact the Human Resources Office at 830-257-2202 for information.
New Substitute Fingerprinting Information
The 80th Texas Legislature passed SB 9, which mandated the Texas Education Agency (TEA)/SBEC to acquire criminal history reports on: (1) all certified educators who are currently employed, (2) all substitute teachers, and (3) non-certified employees hired after January 1, 2008. In addition, SB 9 created a criminal history clearinghouse to facilitate access to criminal history information and provide updates on any subsequent criminal history activity.
In order to be a qualified candidate to be a substitute in Texas school districts, you must have completed the SB 9 Fingerprinting process. The Fingerprinting Forms are already available in the Substitute Application Packet but are available individually below.

To complete the application process after you have completed Fingerprinting, complete the Substitute Fingerprinting Certification Form and turn it in to the Human Resources department.

Please use the Employee Information Form to change your personal information. *Note: To change your legal name, you need to bring an updated Social Security Card to the Human Resources department.
