Student Council Members Work at Habitat for Humanity Homes

On Saturday, April 21, 2012, Tom Daniels’ Elementary Student Council Members put shovels and hands to work at the local Habitat for Humanity Homes. Volunteers dug in to assist with yard cleanup in preparation for new family move-ins, to include weed pulling, rock stacking and trash pick-up.  Tom Daniels’ students have volunteered with the Habitat organization for three years.

“I have great hope for the future after seeing the kind of character and effort these students possess,” said Marilyn Mitchell, Tom Daniels Elementary Challenge Lab Teacher.  “I am certain they will continue to serve the community in the future based on their demonstrated leadership, caring, and giving hearts!”

“Volunteering locally builds a sense of pride and membership in the community,” said Amy Billeiter, Principal of Tom Daniels Elementary.  “We are proud of our students for giving their time to help with such a worthwhile organization.”
