New Principals Hired for Nimitz and Tally Elementary Schools

Superintendent Dan Troxell, Ph.D., and the Board of Trustees of the Kerrville Independent School District have announced the filling of two elementary principal positions.

Wendy Tiemann was named Principal at Nimitz Elementary School

For the past year Tiemann served as assistant principal at Hal Peterson Middle School in the Kerrville Independent School District. Previously she worked in the McKinney Independent School District, where she was a teacher, assistant principal, and principal over the course of 12 years. Tiemann also taught in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Waller, Texas.

Tiemann is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Sam Houston State University, with a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M University.

She replaces Wade Ivy who was named Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Human Resources.

Holly Jones will become Principal at Tally Elementary School

Jones comes to Kerrville from the Tomball Independent School District, where she served as assistant principal and principal of Lakewood Elementary since 1999. Prior to that she held teaching and administrative positions in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District.

Jones earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Abilene Christian University, and received her M. Ed. with Mid-Management Certification from Sul Ross State University.

She replaces Buck Thompson who will retire at the end of this school year.

According to Dr. Troxell, the candidate pool consisted of over 60 applicants. The top five finalists were each interviewed by campus committees consisting of two teachers, a paraprofessional, and a parent from each campus; along with a principal and Central Office staff members.

“We are overjoyed to attract this caliber of candidate,” Dr. Troxell said. “We are excited to have these professionals as part of the district.”
