Graduates Honored at Awards Ceremony
On the evening of May 14, the Kerrville Independent School District and the Kerrville community came together to honor Tivy seniors who altogether brought in $1,842,186.00 in local and university scholarships.
Students were recognized for perfect attendance, outstanding grade point average, subject merit awards, Principal’s Team and other accomplishments. Local scholarship donors also took the stage to present recipients with their awards.
“The generosity of the community is unprecedented. Even through such difficult financial times, donors were still able to support our kids with over $1.8 million dollars in scholarships,” Dean of Curriculum Heather Engstrom said.
Magna Cum Laude Honor Graduates were recognized and presented with a medal and a certificate for participating in at least one UIL sponsored contest during their high school career. In addition, these graduates met the requirements for maintaining grade point averages in the top ten percent of their class this year.
“We have amazing students. Their dedication to academics is truly admirable. The GPA of the top ten percent this year ranged from 99.00 to 108.60. The Cum Laude Honor Graduates GPA ranged from 96.194 to 98.806. This is such an accomplishment,” Engstrom said.
Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2012 will be held on June 1, at 8:00 p.m. at Antler Stadium. A complete list of all scholarship recipients will be provided in the graduation program.
