Nimitz Elementary is served by an active PTO which provides moral and financial support to teachers and students. Fund raising is accomplished through two major events, The Fall Carnival and Walk-A-Thon. Carnival offers wonderful family entertainment and is well attended by the community. In the Spring, it is Walk-A-Thon time. Students hit the track and walk for their health and their school. Money raised by these events allows the PTO to purchase aditional instructional supplies and materials that enhance student learning as well as items that improve the safety, appearance, and fun of the outdoor areas of the campus. In addition teacher appreciation activities are scheduled throughout the year.

Volunteers Needed For All School Party
Nimitz PTO is proud to announce another successful school carnival. We exceeded our $12,000 goal for the raffle, and as a result, the students have won an "All School Party!" The party is scheduled for Friday, December 2nd.
The Principal's Challenge winner will be revealed on December 2nd and the loser will perform their song at the end of the All School Party. Volunteers are needed for the party. If you wish to volunteer, please contact Rhonda Davison at 459-9213.
We would like to express our appreciation to all of the sponsors and volunteers that made the carnival possible..
The PTO budgeted $8000 to the teacher wish list fund in the Spring of 2011. Teachers had the opportunity to submit requests for instructional items that will enhance their ability to effectively teach. The money was awarded to 9 teachers for the purchase of document cameras. The special ed. department and the 1st grade team received Xerox document scanners. In addition, PTO paid the renewal fee for the web based science and math program Explore Learning Gizmos which will be used by 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
