Half a million miles.
That's how far the Kerrville ISD Transportation Department travels during a typical year getting students to and from school and school functions.
Each school day, the dedicated drivers, mechanics, and staff make sure 1300 kids get where they should go safely, efficiently, and on time.
To accomplish this monumental task, Transportation maintains a fleet of more than 30 buses and drivers.
Rob Middleton, Director, manages this intricate dance of getting children to and from school, scheduling extra-curricular activities, handling special needs students, and keeping the buses running on time.
From 6:00 am when the crew fires up the buses to begin the daily routes, until the last bus rolls into the yard at 5:30pm, Transportation is on duty. Weekends mean having up to nine buses on the road taking kids to athletic events and band contests.
Transportation exemplifies how far KISD goes to provide safe, quality education for our children.
