 TIVY CHEERLEADERS SUCCESSFULLY RAISE FUNDS BY HOSTING GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 2010-2011 Tivy High School Cheerleaders recently hosted the 6th Annual Golf Tournament held at Scott Schreiner Municipal Golf Course on June 27, 2011, which raised over $25,000 for the upcoming athletic season. The Cheerleaders Program is responsible for posters and banners throughout the school, which requires banner paper, poster board, and paints, brushes and painters tape.  Other cheerleader expenses include uniforms, pom  poms, megaphones, jackets and warm-up for those cold fall and winter game nights.  In addition, the Tivy cheerleaders provide the foam footballs, beads and t-shirts thrown to the crowd at football games.  Before the Tournament, Cheerleaders talked to over 500 local businesses, secured 63 Sponsors, 27 Golf Teams and obtained Gift Bag Items, Raffle Prizes and Silent Auction Items for the 107 Golf Players.  On the day of the Tournament, the Cheerleaders worked very hard setting up, selling snacks and waters, serving food, cake and delivering over 135 Raffles prizes to the lucky winners!!!

According  to Scott McDonough, Golf Course Director,  “We seldom host Golf Tournaments with greater than15 or 20 teams, I can’t remember when we had this many players and these girls have done a phenomenal job planning and organizing this tournament”.
