Kerrville ISD Administration
The stated goal of the Kerrville Independent School District is to educate all students to be successful and productive citizens. Our pledge as administrators is to make that happen in a way that meets parent and community expectations through continual improvement in curriculum and instruction, a safe and orderly learning environment, sound fiscal management, and leadership dedicated to excellence.

Superintendent's Welcome
Providing Exemplary Education
How many 4A or 5A school districts in the greater San Antonio area received a “Recognized” rating by the Texas Education Agency three years in a row? How many local school districts had multiple elementary campuses named to the prestigious Texas Business and Education Coalition Honor Roll Schools four years in a row? How many area school districts received a “Superior Achievement” financial rating for the seventh consecutive year? How many local area school districts offered salary increases across the board without eliminating any key programs or services? The answer to all of the above is one. Kerrville ISD is experiencing another banner year, despite little “hoopla.” Across the district, individual schools and students continue to perform at elevated levels resulting in increased awards and recognitions in their continued pursuit of educational excellence. Unique programs such as elementary school Spanish and Challenge Labs continue to grow and flourish while providing students with wonderful and enriching educational opportunities. The rising number of student accomplishments, attributed to KISD’s quality education system, is a source of pride for KISD parents, educators, and community members. Says Dr. Dan Troxell, KISD’s Superintendent, “Quality education comes with a price. We know that our local taxpayers contribute a substantial portion of their yearly income to the education of our children. We want to assure them that their tax dollars are spent wisely and in order to do so, we dedicate great time and attention to being prudent spenders. Because of our continued fiscal responsibility, KISD is in a rare place both academically and financially compared to other area districts.” Kerrville ISD is in an enviable position, experiencing both a healthy fund balance due to sound fiscal management and increased academic awards at the campus and district level. For example, each August, when other districts are freezing salaries or providing minimal salary increases or making cuts, KISD continues to offer the highest starting teacher salary in the area and elevate the pay of all district employees across the board as part of the 2009-2010 budget. Despite, rollback elections across the state over the past two years, forcing numerous public school districts to ask voters to approve a tax rate increase in order to meet their needs, KISD continues to operate with a Maintenance and Operations tax rate of $1.03, which is below the rollback tax rate level.” Concludes Troxell, “This is good news for our taxpayers and good news for the district. The only increase we are experiencing right now is a rise in academic achievements and increased success. That’s an increase we gladly accept.”
