Bright Idea
circuitvocab_des.JPGAnnually Tom Daniels Elementary School hosts a Circuit Board Challenge through the science classes.  The competition is aimed at finding the top four 5th grade vocabulary whizzes from each class period.  Explains science teacher Debbie Fowler, “For several days the students create circuit boards with vocabulary words and definitions on then during science class.  Then they compete using circuit testers to see how many words per board they can get correct in a specific amount of time.  If the answer is correct, the circuit board will light up!  The four students from each class with the highest number of correct answers compete against the other periods in a head-to-heard timed competition until the Grand Master Vocabulary Champion remains.”

Sixteen student competed in the challenge.  For full story, click here

Animals and Artificacts

carson.jpgGuest presenters graced the campus on Monday, November 21st, armed with animals and artifacts.  5th grade students enjoyed an extension of lessons on the Colonial period and Ages of Man as their presenter brought artifacts from the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Age.  Simultaneously, 3rd grade students giggled and squealed in delight holding and touching a variety of species from the animal collection that traveled from Mo Ranch with presenter Conn Carson.  To see photos from the 5th grade artifacts presentation, click here.  To see scenes from the Mo Ranch presentation to 3rd grade students, click here.
