Still Room in Rocket Camp for Kids

Contact: Phil Houseal 257-2218

Rockets appeal to engineers of all ages. Space remains in the Shoot for the Stars rocket camp, offered the week of June 25 in Kerrville.

A few spaces remain for young scientists interested in building and launching a real rocket in the Shoot for the Stars rocket camp offered this summer at Club Ed.

This summer, two camps will be held in Kerrville the week of June 25. Classes are available both mornings and afternoons. The class meets at the Auld Center, 1121 Second Street. Times are 9 am to 12 noon for the morning camp; 1:30 to 4:30 pm in the afternoon camp. Cost is $88 and includes all supplies. Classes are open to boys and girls ages 8 to 12.

The rocket camps are based on concepts developed by Brett Williams, head of a nationally-recognized aeroscience program designed to teach students basics of engineering and technology through the use of rocketry. Williams' former students run the camps. Young rocketeers learn lessons of physics and rocket flight, then design and build their own models. On the final day of the camp, everyone launches his or her own rocket. Families and friends are invited to attend the launch.
