This week, WalMart announced that area students selected Melissa Belknap in that company's Teacher of the Year promotion. Belknap is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked at Kerrville ISD's Hill Country High School for 14 years.
Darren Faught, Co-Manager of the Kerrville WalMart, presented Hill Country High School with a $100 gift card and a $1,000 check for use at the school. Belknap also received a t-shirt and certificate.
"I love these kids and that's what this award is all about," Belknap said. "We - the entire staff at HCHS - do what we do as a team. We work with students in ways other than just teaching them the subjects - we also teach life skills and personal skills. They are different people when they leave here. We appreciate having the opportunity to make connections with all of these great people."
