Slow And Steady Wins The Race
Nimitz Students Step Out for Their School

The annual Nimitz Elementary School Walk-a-thon will be held Friday, March 9th, and students in kindergarten through fifth grade have hit the trails in search of sponsors.

Beginning February 9th, students will be seeking sponsorship pledges per mile walked or community members can offer a flat donation of any amount.

Proceeds from the Walk-a-thon will go toward the continued upgrading of playground equipment.  This year, students would like to expand their current playscape or add new pieces.  They have also discussed the possibility of adding a baseball backstop and soccer goals.  For the past five years, the Nimitz PTO has purchased or upgraded the school playground through the Walk-a-thon and other fundraisers for the school.

Parents are encouraged to review the information sent home with their child on Friday, February 9th, and to sign and return all pledges and forms by the marked date.

To make a pledge, contact any Nimitz student or contact the front office at 257-2209. You may also leave a message at this number for PTO President Jeri Skrumeda.

Students are working toward individual, grade level, and classroom rewards collected in  pledges from now through March 8th.
