The Kerrville State Hospital honored students in the Tivy High School Functional Living Unit by naming them the 2006 Outstanding Organization of the Year at an appreciation dinner on Tuesday, April 17.

The award was bestowed for outstanding cooperation and assistance of the Volunteer Services Council at the hospital, according to Paula Reynolds, FLU Teacher.

"We were surprised and honored to receive this recognition, for services we happily provide," Reynolds said. Among those services are making cookies and birthday cakes, preparing Christmas bags, and putting together Halloween packages. "We like to provide valuable services that make a difference in other people's lives. Working with the Volunteer Services Council helps do that."
