The Peterson Middle School Tennis Team won first place at the Mason Team tournament the weekend of May 4 and 5. In a team tournament, two schools conduct 19 matches in each round, according to Molly Waldrop, HPMS tennis coach. The 19 matches include both singles and doubles.
To reach the championship bracket, the HPMS tennis team defeated Hunt by the score of 10 to 9; defeated Junction 19 to 0; then beat Fredericksburg in the championship match with a score of 18 to 1.
"This was an excellent showing of attitude, focus, and control," Waldrop said.
