2nd Annual Student Showcase Spotlights Academic Talents Of KISD Students |
Approximately 340 students representing each grade level on every elementary campus displayed one or more projects that demonstrated the creativity and originality of students. “The state curriculum is rigorous and challenging in all content areas," said Ellen Williams, Senior Director of Advanced Academics. "What these students have accomplished is to take what they have learned to a new depth of understanding. I am truly impressed with their knowledge and the creative ways they have been able to demonstrate their mastery of that curriculum.” Challenge Lab teachers Marilyn Mitchell (Daniels), Cheryl Rich (Nimitz), Kim Clarkson (Starkey), and Lisa Davis (Tally) worked with selected study groups on each grade level to practice their research and study skills. In addition, individual projects have been created in the Challenge Labs based on student-selected topics of interest. Classroom teachers also had sample projects on display.
