KPSF Receives Rotary Grant
KPSF Board Member Kim Clarkson and Executive Director Barbara Johnston received a $3,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Kerrville President Diane Green on June 10, 2009. The grant money will help fund the Advanced Placement Incentive Program. This program rewards seniors who take Advanced Placement exit level exams in core content areas. Since the program's inception, Kerrville ISD has seen an increase in the number of students passing these exams. Students who enroll in Advanced Placement courses are given rigorous curriculum. Upon successful completion of an end of course exam, a student can earn college credit for the course. KPSF is proud to sponsor a program which directly impacts students and rewards academic success.
The Great Duck Race
Thank you to all who participated in the second annual Great Duck Race on April 18 at Louise Hayes Park. The principals were good sports, once again, competing in a kayak race. This year's champion racers were Amy Bellieter of Tom Daniels Elementary and Donna Jenschke of BT Wilson 6th Grade Campus. The fun began at 10:00 a.m. Activities for children included a climbing wall, a bouncer, a dunk tank (featuring Mayor Todd Bock and other local celebrities), face painting, and many other activities. Other local nonprofits were onhand to support KPSF.
The final event was the Great Duck Race. 5,000 ducks were dropped into the river from a crane. Those whose adopted ducks made it to the finish line first received fantastic prizes. Click here to view the winners.
