The Special Education program strives to meet the learning needs of our students through various strategies.

Content Mastery

Our Content Mastery program offers academic support for students who are in the regular curriculum but who have individualized education plans. This support is provided to help all students reach their maximum potential as well as empower them to become independent learners. In order to promote student success, we work very closely with our students to help them identify their learning strengths.

Our Content Mastery program brings the expertise of the general and special educators together in order to provide the best education possible for our students. Mrs. Doran is always available to discuss how we can better serve your child.

Resource Math

Our resource math classes are provided to students that need a slower pace of instruction as well as a smaller student-to-teacher ratio. These students have an individualized curriculum designed to meet their learning needs and to teach them at the level where they can be successful.

Most assignments are completed in the classroom in order to provide more support for the student. Tests are given periodically to monitor understanding and growth.

Resource Language Arts

Resource language arts classes are available to our students with individualized educational plans. These students need a slower pace of instruction as well as smaller class numbers in order to receive instruction in the way they learn.

The Shurley Method is used to reinforce our language arts program and to insure that our students are mastering concepts that will help them continue to grow academically. A spelling and vocabulary test is given every Friday.

Mrs. Ahern is always happy to speak to parents about their child's progress.

Resource Reading

Our resource reading classes offer students instruction based on their individualized educational plans. Instruction is delivered to the students at the level where they learn best. These classes are small in order to facilitate more one-on-one instruction and to insure student success.

Our students participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR)  program and Soar to Success, reading intervention program. To help guarantee a lifetime of learning, we encourage ours students to read at home as much as possible.

Mr. Reagan provides a supportive and motivating reading class for his students.
