The Program
Outdoor Education is an unforgettable three-day learning experience taking place in one of the most beautiful camps in the United States: the H.E.B. Foundation Camp in Leakey, Texas. This exciting KISD program guides students in better understanding the world in which they live and the delicate balance that exists between man and nature. This adventure enriches and extends what is taught in the regular classroom while helping students become better stewards of the environment. Through the learning and exploration of the outdoor environment and the team bonding that occurs on an overnight trip, students gain confidence in themselves and a greater desire, not only to improve themselves, but the world in which they live.

Teamwork
The Outdoor Education experience requires a cooperative and collaborative effort between B. T. Wilson Sixth Grade School and the community. A stronger partnership between our schools and the community benefits us all. This program cannot work without the assistance of numerous volunteers who give up valuable time in order to help students learn through an outdoor experience.
Thank you!
Comments from Parents
This is an experience and lesson for the kids that words cannot describe. This needs to be a long lasting tradition for the 6th grade.
I have never been involved with anything so organized. The time and effort put into this must have been incredible.
This is an excellent opportunity for all children to experience camping. They may not get another opportunity.
Very beautiful setting with plenty of things to learn.
Wonderful experience for me. We are truly fortunate to have such dedication to our kids.
My son made several new friends that he probably would not have without the trip.
Great participation of parents, teachers, community and presenters.
