PREFACE

This web site contains a great deal of required and useful information for a large number of parents and students. Therefore, it cannot be as personal a communication as we would like, and so we address students, not directly as "you" but rather as "the student," "students," or "children." Likewise, the persons who have assumed responsibility for and with whom students live may be their parents or their legal guardian or a person who has agreed to take responsibility for the student as a parent would; we will call these person’s "the student’s parent," for ease of reference, throughout this web site.

Students and parents also need to be familiar with the Kerrville ISD Student Code of Conduct, which sets out the consequences for inappropriate behavior. The Student Code of Conduct is required by state law and is intended to promote school safety and an atmosphere for learning.

The Parent's Guide is issued as a guide to parents and is designed to be in harmony with Board policy. If there is a conflict, the KISD Board Policies will prevail and will be accepted as final. A copy of the KISD Policy Manual is available on the district website (www.kerrvilleisd.net).
