The Kerrville Independent School District (KISD) proudly serves the academic needs of nearly 4,800 students (as of May 2006) and employs over 725 staff.  KISD is a traditionally "Recognized" district and has campuses that consistently receive "Exemplary" or "Recognized" status from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) year after year.

KISD is comprised of four elementary schools serving kindergarten through fifth grade students, one sixth grade school, one middle school for seventh and eighth graders, and one comprehensive high school for grades 9-12.  Proudly, Tivy High School was the recipient of the prestigious Caudill Award given for excellence in architecture and planning.  In addition, KISD operates and serves the needs of students through the Hill Country High School, the Kerrville Discipline Alternative School, Kerr County Juvenile Detention Center, Hill Country Independence House, Head Start, and the Tivy Child Development Center.

Since 1891, Kerrville ISD has been shaping the lives of Kerrville students and meeting the needs of all learners at all levels.  Dedicated to offering personal levels of learning, KISD staff cares about meeting the social and emotional needs of the students, as well as their academic needs.  Our self proclaimed mission is to leave no child left behind or unchallenged.

Looking back with pride, looking forward with promise, KISD administrators and staff are excited about the upcoming 2006-2007 school year.  We hope this section of our website will assist you as you prepare for the new school year and remain a helpful resource for you and your family throughout the beginning weeks of school.
