Referrals can be made by a teacher, parent, nurse or administrator. Parents can call directly to make appointments. Reasons for referral might include grief, needed strategies for school work/organization/stress relief, conflict resolution or family concerns that hinder the student from achieving in a school setting.

Group counseling will consist of 5 to 8 students who have a particular concern in common. Groups will vary in topic and each student will require parent permission to attend.

Will work on tools to eliminate the sense of helplessness, to direct efforts in a productive manner, to find ideas for coping with fear of bullies, and to develop protective skills.

 
   
 
 

Throughout the year guidance lessons will be taught by the counselor, KISD's LSSP or outside agencies such as Hill Country Crisis Council. The lessons are taught in the classroom and focus on topics that are important to all students. Some of the topics covered this year will be Internet Safety, Gossip, How to Handle Bullies, Conflict Resolution/Problem Solving and more.
